I used fletchtite exclusively on aluminum forever and never had a problem but when only platinum was available fletching began falling off when doing nothing different. Always cleaned the shafts before gluing too. Went to super glue after that since the Saunders wasn't available anywhere locally. I've fletched nearly 2 dozen and yes I've lost a couple Blazers but it's because I shot through a Morrell bag and had to push them back through. No vane/glue holds up to that and yet the Blazers stuck pretty much.

I also take either scotch-brite or 300 grit sandpaper and wrap it around the end of the shaft and rotate the shaft while sliding the abrasive up and down the shaft a few times gently, just the area to be fletched.

Like I mentioned in the OP, the one arrow I did with the Fletch Tite Platinum adhered good.
